W01S SKYCLEAR
Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 April 2026

1. General information
🏒

The data controller is Walery Stasiak. Contact for data processing matters is by email: hello@w01s.com.

W01S SKYCLEAR is a private, non-commercial service. The app is free, requires no registration, and displays no advertising.

2. About the app
🚁

W01S SKYCLEAR is a weather app primarily for drone pilots and the UAV community, as well as other users who need accurate weather data (e.g. photographers, paraglider pilots, sailors).

3. Data collected
πŸ“‹

The service does not require account creation or the provision of personal data.

Every request to the app is recorded in system logs. Logs may contain the IP address, request type, date and time, and basic technical information. This data is processed solely for system security, abuse detection, and bot protection. It is stored for a maximum of 30 days. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest of the controller).

The app may access device location only with the user's consent and solely to fetch a weather forecast. Location is not stored on the controller's server. Consent may be withdrawn at any time via browser or device settings. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent).

In the event of technical errors the app may automatically send error reports containing information about the error (e.g. description, file name, line number). This data contains no personal information and is used solely to improve the app. It is stored for a maximum of 30 days.

Users may voluntarily use the feedback form on the Releases page to report a bug or share a suggestion. The form may include an email address (optional β€” only if provided by the user) and message content. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent given by voluntarily submitting the form).

The app uses Google Analytics 4 to analyse traffic and improve the service. The service provider is Google Ireland Ltd., acting as a data processor on behalf of the controller. Google may collect an anonymised IP address, device and browser information, and app usage patterns. Data may be transferred outside the European Economic Area (e.g. to the USA) on the basis of standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission. For details see: policies.google.com/privacy. Analytics cookies are activated only after the user gives consent. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent).

Providing data is voluntary, but may be necessary to use certain features of the app (e.g. location).

4. Cookies
πŸͺ

The service uses necessary (technical) cookies that ensure the app works correctly, and analytics cookies used only after obtaining user consent (Google Analytics).

Users can manage cookies through browser settings.

5. External data services
🌐

To provide its functionality, the app uses the following external services. User requests (including location data) may be forwarded to these services solely to retrieve weather, map, or aviation data:

  • Open-Meteo β€” weather forecast (wind, temperature, precipitation, cloud cover, CAPE, etc.). Public data, no API key. Terms of use
  • Open-Meteo Air Quality β€” air quality (PM2.5, PM10, AQI, dust). Public data. Terms of use
  • IMGW-PIB (Institute of Meteorology and Water Management) β€” meteorological warnings and current agroclimatic station observations. Public data. danepubliczne.imgw.pl
  • NOAA SWPC β€” geomagnetic activity Kp index. US government public data. swpc.noaa.gov
  • OpenStreetMap / Nominatim β€” geocoding (converting a place name or coordinates to a location). Privacy policy OSM
  • OpenUV β€” UV index and golden hour times. Requires an API key; the key is stored server-side only and is not exposed to the browser. Privacy policy OpenUV
  • OpenAIP β€” airspace zones on the map (tiles). API key stored server-side. openaip.net
  • PANSA DroneMap β€” geographic zones for UAS (unmanned aircraft systems). PANSA (Polish Air Navigation Services Agency) data, displayed for informational purposes only. Privacy policy PANSA
  • RainViewer β€” radar precipitation animation. Privacy policy RainViewer
  • CartoDB / CARTO β€” map tiles (base layer). Privacy policy CARTO
  • OpenStreetMap tiles β€” alternative map tiles. Privacy policy OSM
  • Esri / ArcGIS Online β€” satellite map tiles. Privacy policy Esri
6. Data availability and API limits
⚠️

The app primarily uses public APIs whose availability may be subject to rate limits imposed by providers. Data is cached server-side to minimise requests β€” however, in exceptional circumstances (heavy traffic, provider outage, limit exceeded) some data may temporarily fail to load or be out of date.

If you notice missing data, errors, or incorrect information, please contact: hello@w01s.com. We will investigate as quickly as possible.

7. Transfers outside the EEA
🌍

Some services (e.g. Google Analytics, NOAA) may process data outside the European Economic Area (e.g. in the USA). In such cases appropriate safeguards are in place, in particular standard contractual clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission.

8. Data recipients
πŸ“€

Data may be shared with analytics service providers (Google), IT infrastructure providers located in the EEA, and weather and map API providers β€” solely to the extent necessary to fulfil user requests.

9. Data retention
πŸ•

Server logs: up to 30 days Β Β·Β  Error logs: up to 30 days Β Β·Β  Analytics data: in accordance with Google Analytics settings.

10. User rights
βš–οΈ

Users have the right to: access their data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, withdrawal of consent, and to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority (uodo.gov.pl).

To exercise their rights, users may contact the controller: hello@w01s.com.
